New Notes
Use the "Preliminary Exercises" video as a warm-up and review of fundamental skills.
Listen to the sound clips of each example below before playing it. For items 1-4, notice that the notes are very connected, even though the tongue defines the beginning of every note very gently. Keep your air moving while a small part of your tongue brushes past the bottom blade of the reed at the opening.
The curved line under or over the notes in the following examples indicates that the notes in that group should be slurred (not articulated with the tongue), creating a smooth musical line. Only the first note of each group should be articulated by removing the tongue from the reed as you release your airstream.
