Unit 21

Listen for a clean sound on the G2’s to indicate that your half‐hole is the right size, and on the A2’s to indicate that you are flicking at the right time. Remember that it is your air that creates staccato, not the tongue. The tongue behaves similarly whether you are articulation a legato or a staccato note.

Staccato quarter notes should be played longer than staccato eighth notes. In this case, you can interpret staccato to mean that you should play the note for half its value.
